Library
Our library is one of our most enjoyable places at St. Therese School. Our main goal is to create lifelong readers. Mrs. Lonneman promotes an appreciation of books and recreational reading as well as using the library for research for all students. Students visit the library once a week during a scheduled library time.
We have several programs that enhance our library curriculum. Students can be found creating art based on stories read to them by Mrs. Lonneman. Our “Birthday Club” invites students to donate books to the library in honor of their birthdays. A label with their name is placed in front of the book. Pictures of students reading their birthday book can be found in the hallway of our school. A Junior High Book Club meets every six weeks to discuss a book chosen by Mrs. Lonneman or Ms. Boruske. Students have been given the opportunity to Skype with several authors and we have had authors visit our school to discuss novels with our Book Club.
Mrs. Lonneman has created a school wide thematic instruction and exploration of the Iditarod Race. Students and teachers gush over mushers as they track their teams through use of the GPS with online research. Other thematic instructions are coming soon!
